Mossel Bay is located exactly half way between Cape Town – the provincial capital of the Western Cape Province – and Port Elizabeth (both 400 km away), so it’s your ideal holiday destination, and the logical place to stop and relax on any local itinerary.
The broader area where we are located in known as the Garden Route, but this you might know already. The Garden Route is known for its diversity in nature and climates. The coastal area is mainly fynbos ( Riversdal – Mossel Bay ) as well as foresty areas ( George – Tsitsikamma ) and in the northern section ( Oudtshoorn ) you will find a semi-desert climate and scenery.
Mossel Bay can be easily accessed by any travelling method. George Airport is about a 25 minute drive away. You can either rent a vehicle from the airport or make use of the transit or taxi services.
Being on the N2 road between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, you can travel to Mossel Bay by bus as well. Mossel Bay’s Shell Truckport is a popular stop along their routes. The most popular way of getting here would be by car. We find that a lot of our visitors rent vehicle from Cape Town and do a self-drive towards Port Elizabeth or even sometimes Johannesburg.
