Spending sleepless nights wandering the farmlands and looking up into the heavens to view the billions of stars that decorate the Argentinean skies in autumn, turned out to be the best way of making meaningful memories.

Billions of galaxies seemed so close to earth that I felt I could stretch out my hand and scrape them right off the
heavens like mounds of sugar from a counter. When we close our eyes to recall a holiday experience, it is often an experience in a quirky town or a tropical beach resort that comes to mind. For me, looking at shooting stars and pretending to catch them with my big hands is one memory I cannot erase from my mental library of experiences, something I cannot attach a price to.
South America is not all about big city centres and happy people. The treasures worth seeing are miles away from the big cities. In the north of the Argentina, in the provinces of Corrientes and Misiones, the climate is tropical and there are many rivers and wetlands. Strewn across the province are farms and hamlets where keen tourists can sample the rich cowboy culture. El Gaucho [The Cowboy] resembles the personality of the South American countryside, from Argentina to Paraguay to the southern provinces of Brazil.
In the Argentine province of Rio Negro [Black River], in Bariloche, the life of the Gaucho calls you to come and sample a unique experience. Here you will find kind-hearted folk who would love to show you the real Argentinean way of life. On top of a thoroughly cultural immersion, prepare yourself to have an epic experience, which can include:
- river rafting
- fly fishing,
- hiking snow-capped peaks,
- driving cattle
A full day of adventure is followed by sitting on the porch of your country-style hotel, taking in beautiful views, while sipping on vino tinto and waiting for those grilled-to-perfection portions of Patagonian Lamb. And then, night falls and the stars come out.
